Responsible boating label
Responsible Water Sports Marennes-Oléron is a network of water sports providers committed to continuously improving their practices and reducing their environmental impact.
These professionals are united bya quality charter, developed collectively, which each member commits to uphold. This charter comprises 17 articles addressing topics such as raising awareness among participants, minimizing environmental impact, local community life, and activities within the network.

The Oléron Island and Marennes Basin Tourist Office coordinates the network and is responsible for auditing the participating organizations to ensure compliance with the charter’s articles.
As of 2025, the network has 22 members representing a wide variety of activities: surf schools and clubs, canoeing and kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing trips, water sports centers, and coastal rescue. This initiative is open to any water sports provider on the Île d’Oléron and in the Marennes Basin who wishes to participate.

Why commit to this approach?
Dialogue and consultation
A working group brings together all stakeholders twice a year: activity providers, the tourist office, environmental associations, local authorities, the marine nature park... These meetings enable stakeholders to exchange ideas directly, thus ensuring the sustainability of activities in a calm spirit.
Access to special services
Joining the network gives you access to free training courses (on biodiversity, local history, etc.), teaching aids, special events (regional meetings, participation in trade fairs)... In short, a special range of services.
Networking
Alone we go faster, together we go further! That's how we sum up the spirit of networking, which is now indispensable for working in the best possible conditions. Nautisme Responsable Marennes-Oléron strengthens the links between professionals wishing to work together.
