Accessible Tourism

The Handitourisme section is designed to help people with disabilities enjoy a pleasant stay on the island of Oléron and in the Marennes Basin.

Over the past several years, numerous accessibility improvements have been made throughout the area: you can enjoy swimming thanks to our beach facilities, and if you prefer hiking, you won’t be disappointed by our accessible trails.

The Île d’Oléron truly offers many little corners of paradise. One of the island’s advantages is that it’s fairly flat, which makes it easier to get around in a wheelchair. There are plenty of places to visit and activities to enjoy. Most are accessible and even adapted for people with limited mobility. To plan your trip as effectively as possible, I strongly recommend gathering the necessary information before you go and contacting the managers of the various sites. For example, not all beaches are equipped with boardwalks, but some provide pontoons and “tiralos” during peak season. It’s the perfect way to explore the island and discover some of its treasures.” —The PR Insider (Blogger)
