Accueil Vélo label
The “Accueil Vélo” label is awarded to tourist accommodations, bike rental companies, tourist offices, and visitor and recreational sites located within 5 km of the Vélodyssée and that meet criteria for hospitality, facilities, and services tailored to the needs of cycling tourists.
How do you become an “Accueil Vélo” establishment?
To be eligible, the lodging must:
- Be located within 5 km of a marked and safe cycling route
- Be classified or certified if no regulatory classification exists
- Offer activities and services appropriate for cycling tourists
The “Accueil Vélo” designation focuses on specific services tailored to cycling tourists (examples: being able to arrange for the transfer of cycling tourists’ luggage to the next lodging location, offering cycling tourists the opportunity to wash and dry their clothes, providing bicycles, etc.). The quality of the lodging is verified by a classification or certification.
How do you obtain the “Accueil Vélo” certification?
- A site visit is arranged at your facility with the local cycling coordinator, a representative from the tourist office, and an industry expert relevant to your business.
- Your application is then reviewed by the departmental “Accueil Vélo” committee.
- If the committee issues a favorable recommendation, you will be listed as “Accueil Vélo” on the various platforms dedicated to bike routes ( website, printed materials).
- You will then be able to use the “Accueil Vélo” label and the “Vélodyssée” brand on your own promotional materials.
- Your facility’s certification will also be listed on the tourism office’s website and the Charentes Tourisme website.
The cost of this process : €200 (including tax ) for 3 years
