Description
The Afro-blues trio SOBA, made up of musicians from Burkina Faso, the Congo, and France, will open the evening with compositions blending Mandinka sounds and Mississippi blues. The concert will be followed by a screening of *West Indies, or the Maroons of Freedom*, a major work by Med Hondo. This political and anti-colonial musical comedy traces the history of the West Indies, from slavery to the struggles for freedom.
