Description

A charming sandy beach on the north-western tip of Ile d'Oleron, sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and wild dunes. Its location and unobstructed view of the Chassiron lighthouse make it a seductive, authentic spot that's equally suited to lounging and gliding. At low tide, the beach has both a rocky and a sandy area, and is home to a diving school as well as a surfing school. Chaucre beach is patrolled daily during the summer months, and is marked by red and yellow rectangular flags. Bicycle and parking lots and a summer shuttle bus stop are nearby in season.
