Prieuré de la Perroche
La Perroche adds to the charm of its beach that of the priory dedicated to Saint-Médard and its Romanesque chapel, built in the 12th century.
The priory is not open to the public, but you can admire its portal from the outside.

Description
Near La Perroche beach, a former priory of the Chancelade congregation, dedicated to Saint Médard, stands proudly amid the sandy dunes, like an incredible mirage.
Built in the 12th century, the priory comprises a group of conventual buildings, a cloister and a beautiful Romanesque chapel. Built of ashlar and two-tone limestone rubble, it was a dependency of the Abbaye de Sablonceaux.
The building has been restored several times, following the Wars of Religion.
Rounding the property, sheltered behind its old wooden gate with beautiful iron fittings, the Saint-Médard chapel appears in its simplest guise.
The entire site is now privately owned and closed to visitors.
