Description
Philippe Ardy: Formerly in charge of development programs in Asia for the United Nations, then editor of the intercultural magazine Caravane, distributed in 130 countries; today a writer and sculptor in wood, stone and clay, working and living on the island of Oléron.
He draws his inspiration from Nature: clay from Puisaye and the Sahara, limestone from Burgundy, marble and serpentine from the Southern Alps, wood from the forests and gardens he travels through.
He draws inspiration from the arts and cultures he discovers on his travels, particularly in Asia, but also in Africa and throughout Europe.
He draws his inspiration from this fascinating, sometimes disturbing journey, from the life of a being on Earth in our troubled times, torn between many reasons for indignation and many reasons for hope...
His studio-gallery, open year-round, is located on the esplanade of the citadel (at the far left, past the Arsenal).
