Description
The Saint-Georges-d'Oléron municipal media library, in partnership with the Musée de l'Île d'Oléron, run by the Ile d'Oléron local authority, invites you on a fascinating historical journey. Discover how the island forged its links with the mainland, long before the bridge transformed our landscape. 2026: The 60th anniversary of the bridge! The year 2026 is highly symbolic: we're celebrating the 60th anniversary of the inauguration of the Oleron bridge (June 21, 1966).
To celebrate this major turning point in our local history, the media library has a special week in store for you from June 22 to 26, 2026: "special anniversary" events, times for sharing and mediation around the history of the bridge, themed meetings for young and old. A lively program all year round... The exhibition doesn't stand still! Throughout the year, the media library team and Marjorie Péraud (mediator from the Musée de l'Île d'Oléron) will be leading this heritage trail. Whether you're a history buff, curious or a newcomer to the island, these events will give you a better understanding of the deep-rooted identity of our territory.
