Description

Clipperton Island, also known as Île de La Passion or La Passion-Clipperton, is the only French territory in the North Pacific. This extremely isolated atoll, administered from Papeete, is home to the world’s only freshwater lagoon.

Alain Duchauchoy, who visited the island several times between 1975 and 2015 first as a ham radio operator and later as an expedition leader, is passionate about this small piece of France. He is the director of two films and co-director of a third about this atoll, and in this lecture he will present its historical, geopolitical, geostrategic, and geoeconomic context. We will also watch a video about the Passion 2015 expedition.
