How do I get there?

The tourist office of the Ile d'Oléron and the Marennes basin, in partnership with the Communauté de communes de l'île d'Oléron, is launching a single telephone number dedicated to mobility on the island:

TheTourist Office becomes your point of contact for information on transport options.

The aim: to be able to guide you towards the mode of transport (bike, bus, maritime shuttle...) most suited to your needs.

By car or motorcycle :

-From Bordeaux Follow the A10 freeway - Exit 25 at Saintes, direction île d'Oléron.
-From Nantes: Follow the freeway - Exit La Rochelle, then follow Marans / La Rochelle / Rochefort / île d'Oléron.
-From Paris Follow the A10 freeway - Exit La Rochelle / Rochefort, then follow Surgères / Rochefort / île d'Oléron.

The bridges over the Charente at Rochefort, the Seudre at Marennes / La Tremblade and Oléron are free of charge.

Carpooling:

The Communauté de communes de l'île d'Oléron offers a Facebook group "Covoiturage IO" for your journeys to and from the Ile d'Oléron. Don't hesitate to join the group for future trips. The price is set by the driver, and booking fees may apply. To register, simply join the group. Connections are made directly on the Facebook Group.

By bus :

4 regional lines serve Ile d'Oléron and the Marennes basinall year round (154, 153 and 171) and 1 in summer only (155).

The transport network of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region offers several bus routes for your travels on the Ile d'Oléron and the Marennes basin:

Route 154 Saint-Denis-d'Oléron <> Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron <> Rochefort <> Surgères.
Connects to La Rochelle and Royan with route 153.
Line 155 Saint-Denis-d'Oléron <> La Rochelle (April to September).
Line 171 Saintes <> Marennes, connecting at Marennes with line 154 all year round.

By Train + Coach :

The Ile d'Oléron and Marennes Basin are not served by train. However, at the La Rochelle, Rochefort and Surgères train stations, connections by coach or bus to the island and Marennes are available.

-From Paris: get off at Surgères station: 3h00 (direct)
-From Nantes get off at Rochefort station: 2h17 (direct)
-From Bordeaux Get off at Saintes station: 1h50 (direct)

*In addition to the bus, you can also rent a car near La Rochelle, Surgères and Saintes stations.

By boat :

Sea link : La Rochelle (pontoon de la médiathèque, avenue Michel Crépeau) - Ile d'Oléron (chenal pier at Boyardville), from April to the end of September and during the All Saints' Day vacations. 50 minutes per fast boat.

Bateau Passeur + bikes La Tremblade / Marennes link (10-minute trip at 2 euros).
From June to September, the bateau passeur runs on demand every day from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 7pm. Contact the captain on 07 73 66 25 94.
