Description
La Cabane à Musique, with Patrick Legand on piano and Nathalie BARBARY, soprano, invites you on a musical journey, in the company of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Hector Berlioz, Gabriel Fauré, Francis Poulenc, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel... The watery world has inspired many composers. Places of escape and reverie, the sea, rivers and streams are at the origin of many musical works. With Robert Schumann, we float down the Rhine, where Cologne Cathedral catches the eye. His writing is impressionistic, showing us the architecture of the building and the play of light in the stained-glass windows on the statues and paintings. Hector Berlioz, with a lively, spirited composition, evokes the wind that drives the boat, inviting us to an unknown island. Ravel's Ondine, a water nymph, draws us into a dreamlike, poetic world: "Listen! Listen to me! It's me, it's Ondine, brushing these drops of water against the sonorous rhombuses of your window, illuminated by the moon's dreary rays..." During this concert, Schubert and his "Winterreise" will tear us away from the aquatic world to plunge us into a terrestrial wandering. A lover, spurned by his beloved, embarks on a painful journey. Cold and loneliness accompany him. At once a long walk through snowy landscapes and an inner journey, Franz Schubert delivers his most beautiful musical pages here. At their premiere in 1828, Schubert said: "I'm going to sing a cycle of Lieder that will make you shudder. Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy will take us away from earth for a journey into dreams and the stars. The piano's arpeggios are the vaporous backdrop for the delicate voice, which will take you to floating worlds. But before dreams, there's falling asleep. This is the realm of lullabies... and the opportunity to hear a "world premiere". Indeed, this concert opens the third edition of the "Femmes en livres" festival, built around the author Marcelle Tinayre. One of her writings, "L'éternelle berceuse", was set to music by Paul Dupin in 1893. This piece will be performed for the first time during this concert.
