As part of the 2026 European Heritage Days, the Chassiron Semaphore will open its doors to the public on September 19 and 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Usually off-limits to the public, this iconic site offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of maritime surveillance. Accompanied by a guide, you’ll discover the semaphore’s strategic role and how it operates, and enjoy a remarkable view after climbing its 77 steps.
Free guided tours are held every 30 minutes in small groups of 10 people to ensure a personalized experience.
Important information:
- Access is restricted to registered visitors who are French citizens only.
- Valid ID required (ID card or passport).
- You must arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time.
- There is a staircase with 77 steps (no elevator).
- Photography is prohibited, and access to the exterior rampart walk is not permitted.
- Bags will be subject to a visual inspection (no luggage storage available).
- Tours may be canceled without notice for operational reasons.
Access procedure:
Access to the site is subject to an administrative screening (Article R.114-4 of the Internal Security Code). Entry will be denied in the event of an unfavorable screening result.
