Painting and engraving exhibition by Marie-Odile Hitier and Colette Mousset

Description

Oil has long been my preferred medium, with the deliberate choice of a single color a few years ago, followed by the reintroduction of a limited number of colors, giving my canvases new moods. The discovery of pastels some fifteen years ago opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me, with their rich pigments, rapid execution and velvety rendering. Over time, my choices have become clearer, my technique has evolved towards greater freedom of gesture and color, and I now alternate between these two media according to subject and mood.

I seek to retranscribe the emotion of a snapshot, an ephemeral light, the expression of a face, life in all its simplicity and authenticity, through my sensitivity (Marie-Odile Hitier).
