Description

Exhibition “In Praise of Metamorphosis”

“Panta Rhei” — “Everything flows, everything passes.” ”

This thought by Heraclitus has permeated Achao’s pictorial work for several years. Far more than a philosophical reference, it constitutes the very foundation of his artistic exploration. Nothing remains static; everything transforms, renews itself, disappears, and is reborn in another form. Metamorphosis is not an exceptional event: it is the very condition of life.

With this new exhibition, the artist opens a new chapter in her artistic journey. The motifs, colors, and transparencies that characterize his painting are no longer merely elements of a visual vocabulary; they become the agents of a perpetual movement in which each form seems to emerge from another, evolve, intersect, and then fade away to make way for a new manifestation.

In Praise of Metamorphosis was born from the conviction that painting can make perceptible what our gaze often fails to see: the continuous movement that animates all things.

“I do not seek to represent movement. I seek to paint what remains alive even as it is already fading away. ” — Achao

The philosophy of Heraclitus silently permeates this entire exhibition. According to the Greek philosopher, the world is never static: it is a ceaseless flow in which each moment transforms the one before it. This vision finds a profound echo in Achao’s painterly practice. Motifs shift, overlap, dissolve, and reappear. Transparencies blur the contours. Colors vibrate and respond to one another. Nothing is definitive; everything remains in a state of becoming.

This philosophy also aligns with the concept of “The Ephemeral in Motion,” which the artist has been developing for several years. In this context, painting does not seek to fix an image of reality, but rather to make perceptible what passes through it: the invisible transformations, the rhythms of life, and the fragile balances that are constantly being重组.

The exhibition also marks an important milestone in her career. The works on display were created specifically to engage in a dialogue with the exceptional spaces of the Bastion Royal at the Citadel of Château d’Oléron. The monumentality of the stone vaults, the natural light that floods the space, and the silence that pervades the venue become extensions of the painting itself.

“The Bastion Royal is not merely an exhibition space; it becomes an extension of the painting. Stone, light, and the artworks form a single, unified breath.” — Achao

In Praise of Metamorphosis is thus an invitation to experience what Heraclitus foresaw more than two thousand five hundred years ago: everything passes, everything flows, everything transforms. In the silence of the Bastion Royal, painting, light, and architecture remind us that movement is not merely a property of the world; it is its very essence.
