Description
In the heart of the village, run by 9 professionals, we tell you all about the natural oyster, this curious animal and its strange history, and then about the work of the peasants of the sea: the birth of oysters by chance, breeding in the beds, the work of the women in the huts, traditional maturing in the oyster beds... Discover our hut-museum and an oyster film dating from 1907. Fort-Royer is a small traditional oyster farming village located in a nature reserve. An association organizes events to promote the village's oyster and natural heritage. Volunteers give themselves the means to rebuild and maintain the wooden huts and wharves.
Tasting available at the end of the tour (6 fine, natural oysters from Fort-Royer or galette oléronaise with butter, almond crunch and fleur de sel caramels from Délices du Chai, Sauvignon from Pinard winery or lemonade from Bullerie Oléronaise). Reservations required on 05 46 47 06 48.
