European Heritage Days - Tours of La Citadelle

Description
Saturday September 20 at 10.30am and 3pm: 2 guided tours to discover some of the mysteries. The Celtic promontory of Oléron, its Roman and Scandinavian occupation. Middle Ages, castrum and castellum, replaced by 17th-century military engineers.
Sunday September 21 at 10.30am and 3pm: 2 similar tours, on the same theme of the different occupations of the site, with a description of the original Citadelle (pre-Vauban), its particular features and the additions made by Vauban 50 years later.
Lasting around 2 hours, these tours are aimed at history buffs. They are led by a member of the team of "local researchers".
