Dates & opening times
Description
The green Marennes-Oléron and its merroir are unique in the world. Let us tell you the great story of the oyster, from prehistoric man to royal tables, then fishing on foot, heritage oyster farming traditions, right up to today's standards... This 2-hour guided tour is a real immersion in the daily life of the Paysans de la mer: oysters are born by chance, reared in the oyster beds, the work of the women in the huts, traditional maturing in the oyster beds. Discover our 5-star oyster palaces, their culture broth and their precious vase, the mother of authentic marsh flavors: we'll give you the recipes for our Fines and Spéciales de claire!
Visit our cabane-musée, a professional oyster-washing platform and a 1907 oyster-farming film. Tasting possible at the end of the visit (6 fine and natural oysters from Fort-Royer or galette oléronaise with butter, almond crunch and caramels with fleur de sel from Délices du Chai, Sauvignon from Pinard winery or lemonade from Bullerie Oléronaise). Reservations required: 05 46 47 06 48.
