Conférence UTLMO : George Sand, écrivaine engagée
Dates & opening times
Description
George Sand (1804–1876) cherished her loved ones, loved very different men passionately, conversed with the great minds of her time, and cultivated a highly personal perspective on politics and social justice. An exceptional, eminent, and unclassifiable woman—writer, playwright, political journalist, and literary critic—she bequeathed to posterity an immense body of work and several masterpieces.
Between Paris and Nohant, she devoted her life to work: a means of livelihood and a guarantee of independence. Above all, for her contemporaries as well as for future generations, George Sand has always been a voice for freedom—a symbol and, at times, a target.
