Site ostréicole de la Baudissière
Dates & opening times
Description
Along the oyster route, the Port de La Baudissière site will delight artists at heart. Its picturesque charm is due to the colorful little huts lining the channels. Used for the traditional oyster-farming activity, they were long abandoned as the industry modernized. To preserve a testimony to the history of the site, the huts have been the subject of a rehabilitation project, and now form an unusual ensemble of shimmering, vibrant colors in the middle of nature. Today, they are the refuge of local artists, who have made them their studios. Open to the public, a stroll through the cabanes d'artistes de la Baudissière guarantees a dreamlike stroll from one universe to another: paintings, lamps, textile creations, hats, mosaics, crockery, jewelry, sculpture... Atypical, authentic, photogenic, they offer a little show to the curious who discover them, and allow a different apprehension of a whole part of the local traditional history.
