La grande échelle is the all-volunteer association that runs the Salle de la Bigaille.
On the one hand, it's a local slang word referring to the swarms of mosquitoes that abound in our marshy region, and on the other, it's a collection of items of little value that, when put together, form a whole!
And we think we're stronger together! La Bigaille is a place where everyone can come together!
The venue is a former fire station.
The performance space includes a stage and sound and lighting equipment. Public capacity is around 160 people standing.
The venue is modular. On the one hand, it can be used as a living space (integrating the different areas) for small-scale events (50 or 60 people) in an intimate atmosphere, and on the other hand, it can be used as an auditorium with a capacity of 150 people.
This size of facility, uncommon in the surrounding area, fits in between initiatives to present amateur performances and SMAC (Scènes de Musiques Actuelles) stages (Confort moderne, Nef, La Sirène de la Rochelle...).
