All the island's riches under one roof!

Awarded the "Musée de France" label by the French Ministry of Culture, the Musée de l'île d'Oléron reopened its doors in 2006 in a large building in the heart of the town of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron.

The museum brings together over 500 objects evoking traditional life and activities on the island. It tells the story of viticulture, saliculture, gemmage, oyster farming and fishing. The museum also displays headdresses, costumes and everyday objects. The museum also bears witness to the island's tourist and artistic appeal.

In addition to its permanent collections, the museum has a dynamic policy of temporary exhibitions. The icing on the cake is an educational trail for children, with low display cases, objects hidden in niches, books and pictures within easy reach.

During the school vacations, children can have fun discovering the permanent collections of the Musée de l'île d'Oléron, as well as the current temporary exhibition. Workshops are aimed at children aged 4 to 12, and family workshops complete the program.

Educational trail, game booklets, events throughout the year.
