UTLMO Lecture: Alma Mahler, a woman in her time
Dates & opening times
Description
A fascinating, multi-faceted character, a witness to but also a player in the history and culture of her time, Alma Mahler rubbed shoulders with the greatest artists of her era, and suffered greatly from the events she suffered or provoked. In other circumstances, Alma Malher might have created a work of art, but, victimized by her status as a woman, she had to or wanted to devote herself to the work of her successive companions. An excessive and irritating character in many ways, her turbulent existence illustrates some of the defining episodes of the 20th century.
