Photographic exhibition - Alentours

Description

Rochefort-based photographer Agathe Ferrandez presents Alentours, a series of photographs taken over the course of time and the seasons in the nearby countryside between Rochefort, Oléron and the surrounding area. This work was born of an attention to what surrounds us, often without us really paying attention: a light, a presence, a detail that emerges. Through these images gleaned from everyday life, the exhibition proposes a different, slower, more available way of looking. Alentours also explores memory: the memory that evolves, transforms and is coloured by our experiences. Certain images respond to each other, like echoes, inviting a more intimate and sensitive reading.



Each photograph is presented in a frame that has been hunted down and restored by the artist, extending her approach of giving a second life to objects and making the frame a continuity of the image, rather than a simple support. The prints, made in La Rochelle, extend this attention to a work rooted in the region. A vernissage will take place on May 1 at 7pm, open to all those who wish to discover this work and exchange ideas over a convivial moment.
