Les Marées du levant- Asian art and literature
Dates & opening times
Description
Supported by the Marées de Lectures association, the Marées du Levant themed week offers five days of discoveries around the arts and cultures of Asia, through accessible, creative programming. But because we like to preserve a certain element of surprise, details of the program will remain deliberately secret until they are revealed in March 2026.
The week opens with workshops open to all, in partnership with local media libraries. On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, an immersion in the art of Japanese calligraphy will be offered (registration required), followed later by a lecture entitled "Japanese calligraphy: an inner journey". Wednesday continues the dynamic with an introduction to haiku, led by a guest author, to explore the poetry of the moment and allow personal creations to emerge (registration required).
A special focus is placed on young audiences, with animated film screenings on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday afternoons at the Eldorado, as well as a creative manga workshop on Thursday afternoons, in conjunction with local cultural structures and associations. On Thursday April 16, 2026, a literary and culinary evening is proposed with the Marées de Lectures "Words and Dishes" circle (reservation required, places limited). The weekend celebrates Japanese cinema with a screening-debate hosted by a specialist, in partnership with the Eldorado cinema, on Friday April 17 from 6pm.
On Saturday, the Fête du Levant brings together authors, associations, a publisher specializing in Asian literature and our partner bookseller, in a lively literary village: stands, participatory workshops, exhibitions, round-table discussions and sensory discoveries punctuate this day open to all. A musical show will bring the week to a close from 8.30pm.
With Marées du Levant, Les Marées de Lectures weaves a journey where the island meets Asia, between transmission, creation and conviviality. The full program will be unveiled in March 2026 on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
