From May 4 to 10, 2024, the festival will present its 20th edition. To mark the occasion, we'll be embarking on a musical voyage around the world, following in the footsteps of Pierre Loti. This year, we'll be going to the Americas, North and South, to see how French music has influenced the musical production of countries across the Atlantic, and also how these cultures, far from our metropolis, have nourished the inspirations of our national authors and composers.
This journey begins with a stopover in New York with Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, in a version for 2 pianos and dancers, on May 4 at the Château d'Oléron arsenal. This composer, who was also a great conductor, was a fervent admirer of Berlioz and Ravel. This work, well known to the general public, was a hit when it premiered on Broadway in 1957. Come dance and sing along with Anna Cardona Esteva, Imma Santacreu Tudo and Guillaume Barre, to the lyrics "we'd like to be in America" and "Mambo"!
