Description

Far from postcard clichés, the works of painter Amanda Rackowe capture the essence and beauty of the island of Oleron in all seasons. The artist's aim is to get away from the expected views and find the soul of Oleron, whether it's sunny or rainy. In her canvases, light plays an important role, and together with the sometimes distant perspectives, she constructs her compositions, at once so precise, but also with a certain freedom of abstraction. It's as if her works solicit the long gazes of her observers.
