How to get there ?

The tourist office of the Ile d'Oléron and the Marennes basin, in partnership with the Communauté de communes de l'île d'Oléron, has launched a single telephone number dedicated to mobility on the island: 05 46 85 65 23

The Tourist Office becomes your point of contact for information on transport offers.  The aim is to be able to direct you towards the most suitable means of transport (bicycle, bus, maritime shuttle...) for your needs !

By Car or Motorbike :

- From Bordeaux : Follow the A10 motorway - Exit 25 at Saintes, direction Ile d'Oléron.
- From Nantes : Follow the motorway - Exit La Rochelle, then follow Marans / La Rochelle / Rochefort / île d'Oléron.
- From Paris : Follow the A10 motorway - Exit La Rochelle / Rochefort, then follow Surgères / Rochefort / île d'Oléron.

The bridges over the Charente at Rochefort, the Seudre at Marennes / La Tremblade and Oléron are free.

3 regional lines serve the island of Oléron all year round (6, 6E and 7) and 1 in summer only (8)

Line 6 E : Surgères > Rochefort > Marennes > Bourcrefranc le Chapus > Le Château d'Oléron > Dolus d'Oléron > Saint Pierre d'Oléron
Line 6 : Rochefort > Marennes > Bourcrefranc le Chapus > Le Château d'Oléron > Dolus d'Oléron > Saint Pierre d'Oléron
Line 7 : La Rochelle > Marennes > Le Château d'Oléron > Dolus d'Oléron > Saint Pierre d'Oléron
Line 8 : Saintes > Le Gua > Saint Just Luzac > Marennes > Saint-Pierre d'Oléron (in summer only for Oléron island)

By train + Bus :

The island of Oléron and the Marennes basin are not served by train. However, at the railway stations of La Rochelle, Rochefort and Surgères, connections by coach or bus to the island and Marennes are available.

- From Paris : get off at Surgères station: 3h00 (direct)
- From Nantes : get off at Rochefort station: 2h17 (direct)
- From Bordeaux : get off at Saintes station: 1h50 (direct)

*In addition to the bus, it is possible, if you wish, to rent a car near the stations of La Rochelle, Surgères and Saintes.

Venir sur l'île d'Oléron en bateau

Liaison maritime : La Rochelle (pontoon of the media library, avenue Michel Crépeau) - Ile d'Oléron (pier of the channel in Boyardville), from April to the end of September and during the All Saints' Day holidays. 50 minutes by fast boat.
