Open bar apa oleron 2026
Dates & opening times
Description
For many years now, the APA has been organizing a specific sea bass fishing competition by boat, called Open Bar, every year in June. This is a "no kill" competition, meaning that the fish caught are presented to a club steward boat. Only sea bass larger than 42 cm (minimum legal size) are counted, as well as speckled bass of the same size. The five biggest fish are counted for each boat. The competition is open to all, and each boat has two anglers on board. Competitors come from a wide range of departments, particularly from the western half of France. A fishing zone is clearly identified by distributed charts, and the Organization has six steward boats in fixed GPS position and two mobile safety boats, including one with three divers. In the morning, there's a briefing with coffee and croissants, safety instructions (safety vests must be worn) and snacks. In the evening, a podium brings together all competitors and club members, with prize-giving and a convivial aperitif. A meal rounds off an exciting day.
