Descriptif

Just 3 km from La Cotinière, along the tourist route, lie La Menounière and La Biroire, authentic little hamlets on the edge of the ocean.

Most of the houses here are built of local stone, adding to the charm of the place. Sometimes an outside staircase without a stone banister leads up to the house. The shutters, sometimes green, sometimes blue, add a touch of freshness. A well could serve two or three houses.

At the entrance to La Menouniére, you'll particularly notice one of the facilities that dot the Oleron vineyards: the grape-harvesting dock, consisting of a concrete platform and a plan, used to group the grapes destined for the cooperative. The mechanization of harvesting has gradually rendered them useless.

Note the integration of these villages into the landscape punctuated by rows of vines. The vegetation here is almost Mediterranean, reflecting the mildness of the climate.
