Villa Briquet

It was built for the Briquet-Péron family in 1881. Note the couple's initials entwined in a macaron above the entrance gate!



Mr. Briquet, a butcher, lived in a simple house in the village center. His business was doing well, and his wife Marie decided to regularly put aside a few gold louis in a cauldron. When the cauldron was full, Marie suggested to her husband that he use the money to build a beautiful house, which he did.



The Place Marie Briquet in Foulerot commemorates her.
