Le village de Domino

This small village is one of the most authentic on the island of Oleron. Located on the west coast, at the foot of a high wooded dune, the highest point of Oleron, it takes its name from "domine de haut", which became Domino.

Descriptif

It has preserved its traditional habitat - with wells, alleyways and staircase houses - and is organized around small squares called "cantons".

In the village center, the Rue du Four opens onto a beautiful square. Tiny alleyways, hidden from view, add to the village's charm. Rue du Vieux Puits leads to an unexpected "venelle Traversière", a small shady path that weaves its way between houses and gardens before joining Rue Pasteur, close to the market.

The pine forest that stretches from the Domino beach to the Chaucre beach is a favorite spot for walkers.
