Descriptif

Formerly farmland on the edge of the Atlantic coastline, the Marais des Bris is an astonishing example of an overhang on the sea, shaped by the hand of man.

Here, wetlands, meadows and reedbeds, salt lagoons stretch as far as the eye can see between pine forest and ocean, close to oyster-farming sites.

Come and enjoy this protected natural site on the Ile d'Oléron, which is freely accessible to the public and boasts excellent sports and leisure facilities.

Here you'll be able to contemplate a fragile flora and fauna, including wild orchids - an ecosystem in need of protection. Numerous birds, including grey herons, occupy this wetland, which is rich in food.
