Descriptif

Built of rubble stone, conical in shape and small in size, they were most often found on the humps of salt marshes. Dating from the late 16th century, these small shelters may have been used by the gabelous, the customs officers who once supervised the loading of salt.

Some of them were probably later reused as hen houses.

They can be found in St Martin du Gua and Souhe. You can also see them in the commune of Nieulle-sur-Seudre.

Not open to the public.
